The Cheshire Cat Fleet
All our boats are equipped to a high standard with gas or diesel central heating, flat screen LED TV/DVD units, 240v electrics (via an inverter), hot and cold running water and flushing toilets (except Little Star & Northern Lights.) All our boats have carpets or rugs in the lounge and bedroom areas. We supply cosy 13.5 tog duvets and two pillows for each berth. All bed linen, tea towels and towels are included in the holiday price.
Our boats all have modern, quiet diesel engines and easy to manage controls, making boat handling a pleasure. As you cruise, the engine is charging the batteries to work all the boat’s systems and providing you with lashings of hot water.
Holly Day – 31′
Holly Day is a purpose-built 31′ day hire narrowboat, equipped for up to 10 people. She has fully covered accommodation, with roll-down clear covers, so you can enjoy the scenery whatever the weather. Please note the steering position is outside. Holly has a spacious galley with hot and cold running water, two ring gas hob, grill and oven, an electric cool-box, and a full complement of tableware. The toilet compartment consists of a toilet and washbasin, again with hot and cold running water. Towel, tea-towel, soap, toilet rolls and washing up liquid are provided. Lifejackets are provided for children up to 12, and for anybody else requiring one.
Steering the boat takes a little practice, but is not difficult to master. She steers with a tiller, and has a simple combined gear/throttle lever. You will be shown how to handle the boat, and we will accompany you a short way up the canal while you get the hang of it.

Northern Lights – 38′
Northern Lights is a small, traditional stern boat ideal for one or two people. She is easy to handle and therefore available to hire to suitably experienced single handers. From the open welldeck there are double doors leading into the lounge, which has a traditional cast iron solid fuel stove powering two radiators. Bunk seating either side of a removable dining table will convert into a second double bed if required.
There is a wall-mounted colour TV. The galley is equipped with cooker, fridge and sink unit with hot and cold running water, and adequate storage and worktop space. A particular feature of the galley is the side hatch which can be opened to let in fresh air and enjoy the canal at close quarters. The shower room is off the corridor, and consists of a good-sized shower tray, vanity unit and cassette toilet. At the rear of the boat is a comfortable fixed double bed. She is powered by a modern Isuzu diesel engine with easy to operate controls and minimal maintenance requirements. Little Star – 47′
Little Star is a cosy, characterful 47ft boat sleeping up to four people. She is available for weekend hire, or longer breaks by arrangement. Entering the boat from the bow, there is a raised lounge area with bunk seating either side of a removable dining table. This area converts to a large double bed if required, or could be used as two singles. The well-equipped galley has a four ring gas cooker with separate oven and grill, electric fridge, plenty of cupboard and worktop space, and a stainless steel sink unit with hot and cold running water. Behind the galley is the main sleeping cabin, with a double bed with interior sprung mattress.
There is a further single bunk at the rear of the boat, and between the two sleeping cabins is the bathroom with shower, washbasin and Porta-potty toilet. The boat has gas-fired central heating. Rear steps lead to the cruiser stern deck, which has a safety rail and seating. The boat is powered by a modern Thorneycroft Mitsubishi engine which requires minimal daily maintenance, and has simple-to-use controls. At just 47 feet, she is exceptionally easy to handle, ideal for novices.

Witch Hazel – 50′
Witch Hazel is a brand new boat joining the fleet in 2020. She is 50ft in length, and in the popular reverse layout.
From the bow, she has an open welldeck with seating, and double doors into the forward bedroom. Next comes the shower room with wide shower tray, sink and pumpout toilet. Behind this is the second bedroom. Both bedrooms have moveable bunks which can make two singles or one double bed, with storage drawers under and ample wardrobe space. The lounge has bunks either side of a removeable dining table, and at the stern of the boat is the spacious galley with four ring gas cooker, electric fridge, sink unit, worktops and storage cupboards.
The boat is warmed by diesel-fired central heating and has everything aboard that you will need for your cruise. Under the cruiser stern deck is a super silenced 38hp Beta Marine engine, with simple to use controls.

Maple Leaf – 57′
Maple Leaf is a spacious 4/6 berth boat, 57ft in length with flexible sleeping accommodation. She has a large cruiser stern area with steps leading into the rear of the boat. Starting from the stern, there is a small utility area and toilet compartment with washbasin and airing cupboard. The rear bedroom can be arranged either as one double or two single beds, with wardrobe and underbed storage. A bonus or tall people – the beds are 6ft 6in long.
The central galley is well equipped, with a four ring gas cooker with oven and separate grill, electric fridge, and plenty of cupboard and worktop space. The lounge area has a removable dining table, and the seating converts into a double bed if required. Forward of the lounge is the shower room, with hip-bath type shower, toilet and washbasin. At the front of the boat is the second bedroom, which can also be arranged as either a double or two single beds. There is a wardrobe and under-bed storage space. Steps lead to the well-deck which has seating for several people. The accommodation is heated by diesel powered central heating which runs independently of the engine. This boat is exceptionally easy to handle and has minimal daily maintenance requirements. Her start days are Saturdays or Wednesdays (subject to availability)

Silver Moon – 62′
Silver Moon is a spacious 4-6 berth 62ft boat, with the added benefit of two complete shower rooms, in effect giving both the main bedrooms their own en-suite. She has an open well-deck with seating, a saloon with drop-leaf dining table, well-equipped galley with a family-sized four ring cooker with large oven and grill, electric fridge and ample crockery and kitchenware. The first bathroom is situated between the galley and the bedroom, and the second bathroom is located between the two bedrooms. The middle bedroom can be set up as either two singles or one double, and the rear bedroom is a fixed double with a memory foam mattress. There is generous wardrobe space in each bedroom, and a further double berth can be made up in the saloon if required.
The boat is powered by a Beta marine diesel engine and has simple to operate controls and minimal daily maintenance requirements. She has diesel powered central heating, hot and cold running water, and colour TV/DVD unit (reception not guaranteed!), and comes fully equipped for cruising, with everything you need for a perfect holiday.
This boat is ideal for two couples sharing, but equally suitable for families and groups of friends.

Southern Cross – 65′
Brand new in 2019 is Southern Cross, a 65ft cruiser stern 8 berth boat with a reverse layout and spacious, flexible accommodation. From the front she has an open well-deck with seating and double doors leading to the first bedroom, which can double as a TV lounge. Behind this is the forward shower room, with toilet, washbasin and shower. Then two more bedrooms and the aft shower room.
All the cabins can be arranged as two single or one double bed, and have wardrobe and drawer space. At the rear of the boat is the main lounge, which will convert to sleeping accommodation, and the galley.
The galley has a full sized four ring gas cooker with grill and fan oven, a fridge, sink unit and plenty of cupboard space. She comes fully equipped with everything you will need to cook aboard. Steps lead from the galley to the large cruiser stern deck. The boat is powered by a Beta Marine 42hp engine with easy to manage controls, and is warmed by diesel fired central heating.
